Probiotic supplementation in atopic dermatitis
An exploratory single-arm pre-post clinical study assessed patients with atopic dermatitis during 90 days of probiotic supplementation. Participant count, probiotic preparation, strains and dose were not reported in the abstract.
SCORAD, EASI and DLQI decreased after supplementation; effect estimates were not reported in the abstract. Serum IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 also decreased, and serum metabolomic profiles changed from baseline to post-treatment. There was no control group, so the pre-post changes do not establish that probiotic supplementation caused the observed changes.
